Wonga Beach - Holiday Activities, Tours, Attractions
- Where to Go, What to See and Do
Wonga Beach is located about 5 km south of the mouth of the Daintree River, at the far northern end of Trinity Bay, which has Cairns is at the southern end. It is one of the few beaches on Trinity Bay that offers a truly wilderness feeling as you stroll along the beach which many regard as `Daintree beach`. You can walk along the beach from Wonga to the mouth of the Daintree River. The views are magnificent with rainforest and coconut palms lining the foreshore, mountains to the north and Snapper Island offshore to the east. But beware of crocodiles which frequent the area, particularly near the mouth of the Daintree River. From Wonga Beach, looking south, you can see Island Point which protects the entrance to the harbour of Port Douglas. There is a wide range of places to stay at Wonga Beach include two camping grounds, a budget resort, beachfront house rentals, comfortable cabins and pool-side rooms at a local wildlife sanctuary.
