Yarra Junction is located on the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail along which you can ride your bike or walk or ride a horse for about 40 km along the corridor following the route of the old railway line which was closed in 1964. Yarra Junction lies at the centre of the famous Yarra Valley Wine Region and there are a wide range of wines to taste at the many cellar doors spotted throughout the region. Other places to vista r the quarterhorse stud, Triandibo (you need to make an appointment to visit the farm) and the Karwarra Australian Plant Garden at Kalorama, overlooking Sylvan Dam, which grows more than 1800 different Australian species. Yarra Junction is also a good base to visit the Healesville Sanctuary and the Puffing Billy Railway and the many scenic areas of the Dandenong Ranges.
